Assuming Hurricane Sandy doesn’t blow it for everyone, Saturday, Nov. 3, might be the zombie apocalypse we’ve all been waiting for.
But the way SPACES sees it, the end of the world isn’t quite so grim after all.
Polkapocalypse is the party to end all parties (I mean, it is 2012). Leave it to one of the city’s leading art spaces to imagine the ghoulish of the ghoul strapping on their dirndls and twirling around the room — oom-pah-pah, oom-pah-pah — in three-quarters time.
It turns out the afterlife is a place where SPACES (2220 Superior Viaduct) remains a resource and public forum for artists to explore and experiment. All proceeds from this polka-themed zombie par-tay benefit SPACES and, well, everyone who goes there. Get your tickets now.

VIP Preview Party, 7 p.m.-1 a.m.
You can preview the end of the world with a 7 p.m. ticket ($135), featuring an all-access backstage pass to a polka-dot wasteland, a buy-it-now privilege on artwork and an hourlong head-start on everyone else. Catered refreshments, private performances and signature drinks await VIPs behind the velvet ropes.
Polka Party, 8 p.m.-1 a.m.
All 8 p.m. ticketholders ($45) are responsible for getting this party started! There’s an art auction, cash bar, finger foods and live music. I’m pretty sure dancing is required. You can also pick up a $45-extra perk: a la carte buy-it-now option for the auction.
Graveyard Shift, 10 p.m.-1 a.m.
Gather around, friends! Gather around! DJ Kishka will try to play you a happy song. Don’t worry: your 10 p.m. ticket ($10) gets you more than just ice cubes and beer. Graveyard Shift features the 12″x12″ art auction, cash bar and polka jams with Cleveland’s best DJ until 1 a.m.
